20 July 2026 - Drug companies have already bypassed Australia as a market for some of the world’s most innovative medicines, including the first new schizophrenia treatment in a generation, a cutting-edge therapy that can prevent migraine attacks, nuclear medicine treatments for prostate cancer, new antibiotics, a modern haemophilia treatment, a targeted lymphoma therapy and more effective treatments for inflammatory bowel disease.

A report by Medicines Australia has documented 18 innovative therapies that are not available on Australia’s PBS in a blow to the health and lives of thousands of patients.
