Secret health fund benefit list reveals the lowest paying insurers

31 October 2019 - The health funds that pay their members the lowest benefits have been named and shamed as experts warn private insurance is in a death spiral.

Health fund benefit lists reveal some insurers are paying up to $730 more than their rivals for common surgeries proving not all health fund policies provide the same value.

The Australian Medical Association has compared the rebates major health funds provide for 21 common procedures including obstetrics, coronary surgery and hip replacements in their annual Private Health Insurance report card.
