2 August 2019 - People behind a petition of nearly 34,000 calling for the funding of two high-cost breast cancer drugs say "there have been tears" after a Health select committee report refused to recommend the funding of the drugs.

"People have been looking at each other saying, 'our lives don't matter'," said Malcolm Mulholland, who was one of the petitioners.

Mulholland's wife, Wiki, has stage four breast cancer, which has spread to her lungs. Both have been campaigning for the funding of Ibrance (palbociclib). Her treatment costs around $6800 a month.
