Senate hearings on drug prices: many questions, few (useful) answers
24 July 2019 - Rising drug prices are a pressing concern for policy makers.
The first months of 2019 have seen the unveiling of congressional proposals to address drug prices, as well as a high-profile hearing by the Senate Finance Committee, which invited policy experts and leaders from pharmaceutical manufactures and pharmaceutical benefit managers to testify on drivers and potential solutions to rising drug prices in the US.
This hearing was by no means the first to investigate drug prices.
