Stop panic buying medicines: pharmacists warn

 4 March 2020 - The Pharmacy Guild has warned Australians panic buying of medicines will only make existing supply issues for common drugs worse, as survivalists shift from bulk-buying toilet paper to buying up months worth of blood pressure tablets.

The guild's Victorian president Anthony Tassone said pharmacists had seen "an increase in demand for all medications" in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, warning that stockpiling medicines was unnecessary and would only harm fellow patients.

"We've received quite a few anecdotal reports from our members of patients seeking to get additional supplies of prescription and over-the-counter medicines," he said.
