TGA to be one-stop shop for complaints

10 July 2017 - The TGA will be given full responsibility over advertising complaints for medicines and medical devices in a bid to speed their resolution, particularly involving herbal, vitamin and mineral supplements.

The deputy secretary of health with responsibility for the TGA, John Skerritt, said a timely response to advertising complaints would help deter people from wasting money on goods that would not help and from seeking medical attention.

Dr Skerritt said there had been several public consultations on the advertising of medicines and medical devices in the past four years and the overwhelming message was that the complaints handling system had to change.
