The controversial malaria drug has been approved for an official trial

21 April 2020 - A massive new clinical trial has begun in Australia to test if an HIV or a malaria treatment can beat the virus and almost every Australian hospitalised with COVID-19 will be offered a place.

The ASCOT trial could also be expanded to a head lice treatment ivermectin after Monash University researchers proved it could kill the virus in include a test tube within 48 hours.

The massive Australian clinical trial will take place in 70 hospitals in Australia and 11 in New Zealand.
