13 October 2016 - Australians and their doctors are wasting money on potentially harmful tests and treatments, including some for cancer, Alzheimer's disease, coeliac disease and sexually transmitted infections, a new report says.
As more experts recognise Australians are receiving too much medicine, four groups that specialise in genetics, sexual health, radiology and gastroenterology have produced recommendations to curb wasteful and sometimes damaging medical practices as part of the "Choosing Wisely" campaign.
