13 December 2016 - Younger Australians are increasingly turning away from private health insurance, preferring to try their luck in the public system than pay for a policy they don’t feel they need.
Scott Wilson, chief executive of comparison website iSelect, said data for the first four months of the financial year showed affordability concerns continued to drive policy churn, which was likely to increase ahead of premium increases next year.
But he said the major concern for the sector was young people no longer felt they needed to buy health insurance.
