US hopeful of pre-Christmas COVID jab, Australia still has long wait

1 December 2020 - Millions of vulnerable Americans could be vaccinated against coronavirus before the end of 2020 but it will be months into 2021 before anyone in Australia gets a shot.

Moderna, the US biotech leading the vaccine race, has applied for fast-tracked emergency approval from US and European regulators and, if its applications are granted, the first immunisations could be given in the US by December 21.
