2 September 2020 - An analysis of seven international trials has found that treating critically-ill COVID-19 patients with steroids can reduce mortality risks by 20%, which has prompted the WHO to recommend steroid treatment.
Meanwhile a British COVID-19 victims group representing more than 1,400 bereaved families have labelled Prime Minister Boris Johnson "heartless" for refusing to meet with them.
The analysis — which pooled data from separate trials of low dose hydrocortisone, dexamethasone and methylprednisolone — found that steroids improve survival rates of COVID-19 patients sick enough to be in intensive care in hospital.
