12 June 2020 - The Morrison government will spend an additional $100 million over the next five years on medication management services as part of a landmark community pharmacy agreement.

The $18.3 billion deal, which will start on July 1 and last until June 2025, was struck on Thursday night after more than a year of negotiations and will ensure that Australians can access more than 200 million prescriptions each year for medicines subsidised under the PBS.

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia president George Tambassis told The Australian the seventh Community Pharmacy Agreement provided certainty and stability for the nation’s 5,800 community pharmacies and was an “agreement for the times” amid the global coronavirus pandemic.
