Chemists have been overcharging customers for medicines a government review finds

24 June 2017 - The price of the same PBS medicine can vary by up to 200% from shop to shop, a damning new government review of the pharmacy industry has found.

The Turnbull government’s Review of Pharmacy Remuneration and Regulation wants to end the practice, which costs consumers $145 million a year, by introducing a set price for PBS medicines.

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia claims that could mean medicine prices soar by more than $8 per prescription and the Chemist Warehouse discounting model being brought to an end.
