Hunt puts best foot forward on health but we’ll need to monitor developments
13 October 2017 - Health Minister Greg Hunt today unveiled the most significant reforms to private health funds in recent memory but the real test comes next February when he is due to approve the next round of premium increases.
The intent of today’s package is to reduce costs for the industry which should result in lower premium increases but just whether the industry hands on the savings to customers is another question.
Submissions for new premiums are submitted in November with a decision due in February and the new rates to apply from April 1.
