My Health Record opt-out period extended

10 August 2018 - Health Minister Greg Hunt has formally extended the opt-out period for My Health Record, as a campaign to revert to an opt-in system continues.

Australians now have until November 15 to opt out of the digital health records system, to avoid being automatically enrolled. Australians had previously been offered a three-month window, ending October 15, to opt out.

But concerns about My Health Record remain, with unions this week raising fears that employers could gain access to workers' confidential medical records.
