NSW boy with severe eczema says he’s ‘tired’ of living with illness as family ask for drug to be subsidised

Daily Telegraph

11 September 2020 - The family of a young NSW boy suffering from a severe skin condition will have to fork out $20,000 a year for critical new medication six months after the government was told the drug should be subsidised.

Northern Beaches mum Michelle Taylor said all her son Ryder, 11 wants is a “normal life,” free from visits to the hospital, rounds of antibiotics to reduce infections, bleach baths and wet wraps covering his whole body to treat his eczema.

Ryder will soon be 12-years-old and able to take a new drug called Dupixent, but without a Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme listing, it will cost his family $1,615 a month.
