Community pharmacy sector leads reform

Pharmacy Guild

6 April 2016 - At considerable cost to all involved, pharmacies and the broader medicines sector are delivering over $20 billion in budget savings to government this decade through PBS reforms.

It is now indisputable that the PBS is fiscally sustainable, with expenditure in recent years flat or falling in direct contrast to other parts of the health system, including the MBS and public hospitals.

Because of our sector’s strong commitment to these tough reforms, the future of the PBS is assured with the Parliamentary Budget Office projecting below GDP expenditure growth through to 2025.
