Responses to Prostheses List reform

MTAA

16 February 2022 - Consultation paper #3 A modernised fit for purpose listing process was released on 11 January and closes on 25 February. The main positive is that it proposes an abbreviated pathway for straightforward Prostheses List applications.

The main negatives are that the abbreviated pathway is only applied to Class IIB and below devices and does not allow parallel processing with TGA. It also does not allow public price referencing to be used for a new group instead of HTA if public prices and suitable volume are available.

These are the primary issues MTAA is seeking to address as well as seeking improvements to processes overall.
