Royal Children’s Hospital takes action to give sick boy wonder drug access

13 July 2018 - Authorities are yet to determine who will pay for a groundbreaking drug for a young boy dying of a rare disease, despite another child getting it for free.

The Herald Sun yesterday revealed one boy suffering the same rare genetic condition was receiving the drug for free under a private deal.

A temporary agreement with the medication’s manufacturer to provide it to the other boy is due to expire on July 16. The medication is worth $900,000 a year.
